Blended Teaching and Learning

S.T.A.T. is the multi-year transformation of BCPS into a complete 21st century technology learning environment to prepare globally competitive graduates. The Blended Teaching & Learning team provides professional learning and support to schools by planning, organizing, and supporting professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators throughout the school year. This includes direct support to the 170 S.T.A.T. teachers in all BCPS schools, and the system’s largest annual professional learning event, the Blended Learning Summer Institute.

The BCPS Lighthouse Schools are the 10 Elementary, 7 Middle, and 3 High schools leading the way in personalized and blended learning. The Blended Teaching & Learning team created and currently maintains the Lighthouse Schools website to communicate to stakeholders the learning happening in classrooms. The site contains reflections from teachers and students, as well as video and images highlighting learner-centered environments. In conjunction with the Office of Communications, the team works with Lighthouse School Good News Ambassadors to provide content for the website.

Nights of Innovation, organized by the Blended Teaching & Learning team, are open-house style events that showcase innovative teaching and learning practices throughout BCPS.  Open to the school community, these events allow parents to experience hands-on, interactive learning stations, showcases of exemplary student projects, model classrooms that exemplify learner-centered environments, and more. Various schools, at all levels, have hosted this event.
