The VISION of the Baltimore County Public Schools Outdoor Science Program is to develop a community of environmentally literate citizens who demonstrate stewardship and an authentic passion for learning about the natural world.

The MISSION of the BCPS Outdoor Science program is to:

• Promote the use of the environment as an integrated context for learning.
• Promote overall academic achievement through the use of authentic, hands-on investigations.Support schools in the use of their schoolyards as learning communities.
• Provide resources and experiences that promote environmental literacy and develop a sense of personal stewardship.
• Involve the BCPS community in experiences that will promote lifelong learning by aligning academic standards and authentic investigations with action.
• Encourage students to embrace and develop a respect for the natural world.
• Promote curiosity and exploration of the natural world.
• Model and encourage environmental stewardship, collaboration, and communication.
• Develop citizens who are environmentally responsible
